2022 Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee – the celebrations begin!
Queen Elizabeth’s accession took place in February 1952 and to celebrate Mike & Pam Jackson invited fellow residents at Charter’s Village to a very special gathering to commemorate the day.
It started with a magnificent hole (and thank you to the gardeners for preparing the ground) into which was planted Cercis canadensis “Forest Pansy”, a small tree with heart-shaped leaves and clusters of pink pea-flowers followed by flattened, deep purple pods. Pictured below is Mike doing his utmost to fill the hole in 😊
Afterwards residents were treated to a champagne reception where a selection of delicious canapes were enjoyed. Mike gave a toast to the Queen & thanked all those who had helped to organise the event. To end, David Tas, a close friend of a resident wrote and read a beautiful poem called “The Coppice Wood”.
It was a real privilege to have been asked to provide the canapes for this celebration, I’m delighted every last one was eaten and thank you all for the positive comments & the royal seal of approval!
