British Summer Time is here – Easter Takeaways & Upcoming Events!
Don’t dwell too much that it’s been exactly a year since Mr. Johnson announced the UK’s first lockdown but focus more on the positives like British Summer Time ….. it’s just around the corner and, from next Monday, we can at last meet up with friends & family 😊
I’m really, really looking forward to cooking for someone else other than my husband and cannot wait until 12th April when we can welcome back all our lovely loyal customers who had to postpone their special events due to the last lockdown.
I can’t thank you enough for your messages of encouragement and for calling to secure new dates – weekends in May, June and July are filling quickly so if you do have something you want to celebrate in private, intimate surroundings with a bespoke menu of your choice please do get in touch.

During the floral demonstration guests will be treated to a glass of chilled bubbly to celebrate the joys of gardening, the Spring, the end of lockdown and to better times ahead. Full report of how it goes with dates of the next luncheon next time ……..

Small, Local Businesses – Supporting each other
Some of you may remember that we had an “Open Craft Day” organised in November last year where we had invited a number of local, small businesses to display their wares for invited guests to come and browse – I had also planned to giveaway edible goodies which were featuring in our Christmas Luxury Tea Hampers. Alas we had to postpone, but as restrictions ease, we hope to resurrect this idea in the summer – more to follow next time but before then, we thought it might be nice to feature one of the businesses who will be attending……
Silverre Bespoke Jewellery
Deborah Vandeverre started her silversmith journey many years ago by attending a fingerprint course to learn how to use Silver Clay. From there her desire to create grew and she began experimenting with Sterling Silver Sheet, Sterling Silver Wire and Silver Casting. She incorporated her passion for beach combing within her designs and loves using sea glass and casting shells that she finds on the beaches. She also creates bespoke design in consultation with her clients, sometimes using semi-precious stones or other interesting materials and sometimes just plain silver, creating beautiful bespoke pieces that can be treasured forever.
From humble beginnings, Deborah grew her business through local sales at fairs to having her own online shop, selling jewellery to all corners of the world. The name Silverre came from a family brain storming session that was destined to result in the most logical solution. Her surname is Vandeverre, the French word for glass is Verre and obviously Sil derives from Silver!

Recipe of the Month
Celebrating Lemon Meringue Pie this Easter!
Does anyone remember those packets containing the creamy coloured powder and the little lemon flavoured ball that slowly dissolved as the water heated in the saucepan??? As a child, those and Vesta Chow Mein were my favourites!! This recipe tastes 100 times better and, although the pastry takes a little practice, is worth every effort, especially when entertaining ….. which we will all be doing again soon. Give it a try?
