Hello everyone!

It has been a joy over the past couple of weeks to welcome back so many familiar faces who have braved the unpredictable weather to come and dine alfresco in the garden. Apart from the hail storm one Sunday afternoon, we have been relatively lucky ….some days bathing in the sunshine and opting to take coffee in the shade and others having to resort to blankets and hot water bottles – such is our lovely English weather!!! At least from tomorrow we can take cover under a proper roof, rather than the gazebo!

We’ve launched our new SPRING MENU – new additions include a 200gm pure ribeye steak burger along with all the relishes and homemade coleslaw, Teriyaki Salmon Fillet, Chicken Supremes with roasted thyme & balsamic tomatoes and Crispy Cod & Salmon fishcakes to name but a few. Don’t forget, our menus are bespoke so if there’s a particular favourite you would like for you and your guests let us know! Prices start at £30pp for three courses.

Deluxe 5-course cream tea hampers from £27pp or takeaway picnic lunches have been popular takeway choices (which we’re still offering – click here) that you can now enjoy on-site in our beautiful garden. Your tea or lunch (menu choices agreed in advance) will be completely bespoke and any allergies/intolerances will be discussed when booking. You may bring your own alcohol (no corkage charges), which we will chill and serve with your meal and water will be provided free of charge.

Small, Local Businesses – Supporting each other

For the past couple of months we have featured small businesses who will be exhibiting their work at our Open Day in the Summer – we are aiming for the end of July but will confirm in the next blog.

This month we would like to feature the work of Terrie – an animal loving, artistic, trendy, hairdresser who has been in the trade all her working life but shows off her superb artistic skills in many other ways! To name but a few she makes hand-painted, personalised jute shopping bags, wall hangings, felted fridge magnets, key rings, mobiles and many other arts and crafts including original, sketches/paintings.

More recently she has become an ambassador for Tropic Skincare, a multi award-winning company renowned for their freshly made, vegan skincare and makeup range that is cruelty-free and made using sustainably-sourced, natural ingredients. To compliment the skincare products Terrie also makes luxurious bamboo towelling hair turbans which you can use after washing your hair and for applying makeup.

Terrie attends several craft fairs during the year and we are delighted she will attending our open day with examples of all aspects of her work. Fabulous gifts for friends, family and for a special treat for yourself!

Garden Enthusiasts’ Lunch & Demonstration

Our inaugural lunch on the 1st May was a great success. Guests enjoyed watching Tess demonstrate two beautiful spring presentations – a hand tied posy and a display for the table – we all eagerly made notes of the different foliage she had bought along from her garden and enjoyed some delicious food. Asparagus with Romesco sauce, Salmon with ginger & lime on a bed of shredded leeks tomatoes & carrots and a sharing platter of cheese, fruit and chocolate to end. We had some very positive feedback and will definitely be doing another one in the not too distant future.

A delicious, creamy and very simple dish to cook for a mid week supper.
